Margaret Jean Gable

Known as “Grammy” to those who brought her the most joy, Margaret Jean Gable went home to her Heavenly Father, Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Lily Schuehrer, Michael Meyers Jr., Ava Meyers, Jacob Schuehrer, Gabriel Meyers, Ella Kuhn, Adam Kuhn, Nathan Kuhn, and Mira Cooper meant the world to Grammy and she loved being a part of anything that revolved around them. Some of her favorites included, cold rainy days on the soccer field, special school dances, Grandparents Day celebrations, birthdays and holidays with her all-time favorite being Halloween. Of course, to have been able to spoil her grandbabies- we must celebrate that she was “Mom” to daughters Mindy Jean Schuehrer, Kelley Jane Kuhn (Daniel), and Shauna Junita Meyers (Michael). Now second fiddle, mom will tell you that the greatest accomplishment of her life was raising her three girls. While there are countless memories through the years, some of our favorites were road trips in her Buick Regal, Pig out Nights on Friday, getting her advice and guidance on how to feed, water and keep her precious grandbabies on the right path in life. Mom’s love and commitment to God was strong and ever present. She instilled in us the importance of a foundation of faith. Even through our different religious paths, Mom was our greatest supporter and nurtured our own faith journeys. How fortunate are we that she has eternal life and is our special angel in heaven. She was collector of many things, cookbooks, shoes, and useless trivia- if there was ever a game that involved trivia- you wanted Mom on your team. Mom loved to read, she was beautiful inside and out and she took in all life had to offer with gratitude and from a place of love. Always with a smile, a lot of faith, and a positive outlook that the best was yet to come. Mom studied at Northern Michigan University and developed lifelong relationships with her Dionysus friends. Known as ‘Crazy Irvine” back in those days, Mom cherished her time as a Wildcat and loved returning to Marquette with her friends every other year to take a stroll down memory lane. The positive impact Mom had on people continued throughout her life. Whether it was from her days working for the Flint Board of Education, singing in the church choir, social gatherings with her friends through the Fenton Singles Club or working with her colleagues at Columbus Rehab through Henry Ford Health System. Mom was trusted and loved by all who knew her including the families of the pets she looked after. She loved animals and cared for others pets as if they were her own. This was evident when owners would return to their pets demanding more attention and treats as well as weighing a bit more than when they left. Mom was born in Detroit, MI on July 23, 1953, to James and Margaret (Geddes) Irvine. She was the oldest of five children and took great pride in being the “Big Sister”. She is survived by her mother Mona Irvine, sisters Diane (David Enos) Irvine, Delma (David) Atwell, brothers Jim (Lisa) Irvine and John Irvine. Mom was preceded in death by her father, James David Irvine, and mother Margaret B. Geddes. The visitation will be Monday, April 17, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road W. Plymouth, MI 48170. In state 11:30 AM until the 12 noon Funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 North Haggerty Road, Plymouth, MI 48170.
