Genevieve M. Knierim

Genevieve M. Knierim, age 87 of Canton, wife of Dr. John A, Knierim for 63 years, stepped into eternity Monday, March 20, 2006. Surviving are 2 daughters Julie (Mark) King of Holt, Michigan and Jennifer (the late Samir) Nakhleh of Canton; granddaughter Natasha M. King and related nephews and nieces. Genevieve is originally from Dayton, Ohio and is a 49 yr resident of East Lansing. She and John were married in Christ Episcopal Church June 22, 1940. Later, she attended Holt Baptist Church in Holt, and Calvary Baptist of Canton. Genevieve led a busy, creative and musical life in her early years as a soprano lead in plays at Steele High School of Dayton. She loved music and sang in Rikes Glee Club, LCC Community Chorus and Sweet Adelines. Professionally she was Vice President of the Ohio Dental Assistants Assn, and President of the Columbus Ohio Dental Assistants Assn. She was awarded the Dr. G. Layton Grier Trophy for excellence in dental clinic presentation in 1951. Her other hobbies included flower arranging, copper enameling, volunteering with the Girl Scout organization and East Lansing High School Marching Band. Later, she became a member in the Par Club for Retail Sales Excellence at Jacobson Dept. stores in East Lansing. Visitation Thursday 1 PM until service 2:15 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 43065 Joy Rd, Canton. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing.
