Jeanette A. Merrill

Merrill, Jeanette Angeline, 73, beloved mother to Anne and Jon, peacefully entered into eternal life on Sunday, August 14, 2016. Born in Detroit, Michigan April 3, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John and Georgina (Della-Dora) Gerres. She was the devoted mother to Jonathan (Kathleen) Merrill of Greenwich, N.Y, Anne (Don Holderness) Merrill of Canton, MI and the late Paul Merrill. She is the adored grandmother of Celia, Ian, Tess, and Evan Merrill. She also had many nieces and nephew and was grateful to her niece Renee Knight and her family for their care when it was needed and enjoyed spending time with them. Jeanette was also survived by her two cousins, who were like sisters to her; Gloria Della Dora (Southfield, MI) and Roberta Bricillo (Seminole, FL), and her nephew Eddie Hirzel (St. Petersburg, FL). She was a graduate of St Francis De Sales High School and Sinai Hospital of Nursing in Detroit. Jeanette’s most important role was raising and caring for her family. She worked hard inside and outside the home to ensure her children had a wonderful upbringing, filled with love and support. Her smile and her laughter were contagious and the trait that we will remember most. She loved gardening, playing pinochle, and spending time with friends and family. Her passion in life centered around caring for others as a nurse. She cared for many family members near the end of their lives. In her professional career as a nurse, she had been employed at Sinai Hospital of Nursing, Heartland Health Care Center, and Dorvin Nursing Home, retiring in 2003. Relatives and friends are invited to join Jeanette's family in a Celebration of her Life at The Courthouse Grill and Banquet House, 41661 Plymouth Road, Plymouth, MI, Sunday, September 4th, 2016 beginning at Noon .
