Henry Rocco Simoni

Henry Rocco "Rocky" Simoni, born March 6, 1924, aged 100, of Plymouth, Michigan, passed away on April 10, 2024. Born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of the late Sarafino and Amelia Simoni. He grew up surrounded by a close-knit family of loving aunts, uncles, and many wonderful cousins. Rocky was the cherished husband of the late Marilyn Simoni (nee Jakubczyk). He was a devoted father to the late Roxanne Kelly, John (Peggy) Simoni, the late Joanne Simoni, and Paula (Harry) Lutz. Loving grandfather to Lauren (James) Boehler, James Kelly, and Rachel (Daniel) Nelson. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Jacob Boehler and Benjamin Nelson. Rocky was preceded in death by his siblings, Dr. Lewis (Zaria) Simoni, and Leona (the late Roland) Colonna, his sister-in law, Diane (Marvin) Dipzinski and brother-in law Wally Jakubczyk. After graduating from high school in 1942, Rocky proudly served his country in the Army as a sergeant. He later attended West Virginia Fairmont State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 1950. He also attended Duquesne University, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Rocky was also a member of Kappa Sigma Kappa fraternity. Rocky built a fulfilling career at General Motors, where he worked as a supervisor until his retirement in 1987. In retirement, he found joy as a golf ranger at various golf courses in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and St. John’s Plymouth. An avid sports fan, Rocky loved watching Tiger’s baseball, the Lions, and University of Michigan football. He also had passions for golfing, woodworking, and gardening. On Thursday, April 18th, Mr. Simoni will lie in state at 10 AM until the 11 AM Funeral Mass at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, located at 14951 North Haggerty Road, Plymouth, MI 48170. Rocky will be remembered for his strong work ethic, warm smile, and the love and care he devoted to his family and friends. His legacy of warmth, kindness, and dedication to his loved ones will be cherished by all who knew him.
