Christopher E. Vaquera

Christopher E. Vaquera passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2024. Chris was born to his devoted parents, the late Rudolph and Josephine, on May 26, 1962 in Detroit. He grew up with his loving brothers and sister, Don (Susan), Rudy (Pat), the late Steve (the late Jean), Greg (Shelly), Matt (Jackie), and Josephine (the late Rick). Chris was a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews who, like everyone else, looked forward to his light-up-a-room warmth, humor and happiness each time they met. He was an eager entertainer to bring cheer to any occasion and oftentimes took “requests” to perform his now legendary rendition of “Mack the Knife.” He leaves behind a plethora of lifelong friends. Above all, Chris was a faith-filled man with a special devotion to the Virgin Mary and helping others with anything they needed. Chris was a well-known favorite at his parish, Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Detroit. He was a Knight of Columbus and, in that role, worked many years to help others. He was a patriotic man and proud Air Force veteran. His faith led him to register as an organ donor upon his passing from this life. His donation will help many others to regain a quality of life. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 PM. Chris will lie in state on Monday, July 15th from 10:30 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at SS.
