Nancy Elizabeth Sledge

Nancy Sledge passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on November 26, 2022. Dear wife of the late Dan. Loving mom to her children Shannon, Jr. (Jenny), the late Shane and late Danielle. She is the dearest gramma of Shane (Nichole), Joseph (Shannon), Tyler and Patience. Very proud great gramma of Kaiden, Kynlee, Noah, Rayne, Tempy, Octavia, Shane Jr. and Rose. Loving sister of Dorothy, Rick, the late Carolyn and late Donna. Dearest Mama Sledge to everyone who was lucky enough to have been welcomed to her home. Nancy was a strong woman who was able to take anything that the world could throw at her. Her resilience wasn’t anything short of remarkable. Life wasn’t easy for Nancy. She lost two of her precious children long before their time. This alone could have knocked her down and made her bitter towards life, but it didn’t. There were many other tragedies and hardships throughout her life, but Nancy persevered and always had a positive attitude. She was able to accept the things she had no control over and didn’t dwell on the negative. With such a loving and accepting personality, Nancy gained an exceptionally large number of friends. Not just acquaintances, but true friends. There wasn’t anything Nancy wouldn’t do to help another out. She devoted her working life to working with elementary school children. She was well loved by countless generations of students whose lives she impacted in such positive ways. Animals were so important to Nancy. Throughout the years, Nancy was mom to so many dogs, cats, snakes, squirrels and dragons! She always took in fur babies in need of a home. Spending weekends at the lake house with family and friends was one of Nancy’s favorite things to do. Just chilling on the porch having good conversation or watching the grand babies splashing in the water. Above all else, Nancy loved her family. Nothing brought her more joy than to spend time with them, especially the littles! A busy home was a happy home! So many memories of birthdays, Christmas, thanksgivings, showers or “just because” parties were made with Nancy. Nancy was definitely one of a kind. Sweet, funny, caring, giving, patient, tolerant, forgiving yet stubborn. Life will never be the same, but she will never be forgotten by so many who love her. She is at home with all of those who went before, happy, healthy and free from pain. Rest in peace Mama Sledge. Visitation Friday, December 2, 2022 from 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
