Tracy K. Rutter

Sadly we announce the passing of Tracy Rutter on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. A joyful, fun loving, caring person; Tracy loved being around people and was a positive influence on everyone around her. She was a child at heart, she loved kids, and they enjoyed her fun spirit. Born November 9, 1956, she was the oldest of her siblings, with 5 younger brothers (Shawn, Matt, Luke, Michael, and Bob). If you talked about Tracy with someone who grew up with her, the most common things you will hear are, “Tracy helped raise me” or “she was always there for me”; whether you were close family, a cousin, or a friend from the neighborhood. Tracy met her husband Jim in high school in Garden City. While in different grades, there was a gravitational pull between them that found them continuously finding excuses to hangout. They started dating at the end of high school and eventually married on July 7, 1978. Tracy and Jim built a beautiful life and family in Canton. She was a supportive, loving mother, and later excelled as a grandma. Tracy will be deeply missed by her family, kids Jason and Sara, Rachel (daughter in law), Jeff (son in law), and grandsons Alex and Lincoln. Tracy loved being creative and crafts. She was an avid quilter, had a successful embroidery business, and was continuously finding creative ways to have fun and make things. Everyone who met Tracy wanted to be friends with her, which resulted in many treasured friendships. She got along with everyone and was someone you wanted to be around. We have lost a family matriarch, loving wife, amazing mother, adoring grandma, delightful sister (her words), and a fun and supportive friend. A Memorial Visitation and Service will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2026 from 1 PM until the Memorial Service at 4 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth. Memorial contributions may be made to Angela Hospice, 14100 Newburgh Road, Livonia, MI 48154, or to the Canton Public Library, C/O Canton Local Impact Alliance, 50430 School House Road, Suite 200, Canton MI 48187 (Please indicate Canton Public Library as the fund name).
