Steven James Erno

Erno, Steven James, age of 62 of Novi, August 29, 2024. Born in Port Huron, Michigan. Son of Elmer C. “Al” and Rachel D. (Phillips) Erno. Steven, the youngest of six children, is survived by all his siblings. He was a dear brother of Maureen Docherty, Dale Erno, Janet (Greg) Shannon, Karen (Stephan) Burdick, and David (Patti) Erno. He left home to attend college in the Upper Peninsula. After his marriage to his beloved wife Marlene (Grazioli) Erno on May 17th, 1997, they built a home in Novi, Michigan where they raised their family. He was a loving father to Sarah, Joshua, Daniel, and Anastasia Erno. He and Marlene took the family on many vacations together, including a Mediterranean cruise and a trip to Hawaii most recently. After growing up on his family farm, he graduated from Marysville High School in 1980. He then attended Michigan Tech University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Later he obtained his Master of Business Administration at University of Michigan-Dearborn. He always valued the importance of education and instilled these values in his children as they went on to pursue and obtain various degrees. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 39 years as an electrical engineer where he worked on various electrical switches across many car lines. Steve and Marlene were both members of the Downriver Italian American Club. He had several hobbies including watching, coaching, and supporting his children as they played sports throughout the years. He was an avid Detroit sports fan. He grew up watching the Detroit Tigers with his brothers and late father and carried on the tradition with his children. He enjoyed spending time outdoors going on bike rides, kayaking, camping, and visiting National Parks. He also spent a lot of time working on home improvement projects. However, the time he spent with his family was what he cherished the most as he was very proud of them. Memorial contributions in honor of Steven can be made to the Detroit Lions or Tigers foundation for his love of Detroit sports and the Wounded Warriors Project in honor of his late father who served in the United States Marine Corps. In state Saturday, September 7th at 10:30 AM until the 11 AM Funeral Mass at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 44800 Warren Road, Canton.
