Shirley Ann Shelton

Shirley Ann Shelton, age 86, of Plymouth, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024. Born on March 21, 1938, in Squire, West Virginia, Shirley was the beloved daughter of the late Alma and Pearl Beavers. Shirley spent her formative years in West Virginia before relocating to Michigan, where she attended Pickney High School. She furthered her education at Washtenaw Community College, always seeking to expand her knowledge and skills. Shirley dedicated 27 years of her professional life to University Microfilms, where she worked as a respected supervisor, known for her diligence and leadership. Beyond her professional achievements, Shirley had a deep love for gardening. She found immense joy in nurturing her plants, spending countless hours tending to her garden with care and patience. Shirley’s love for nature reflected her nurturing spirit and the way she approached life—gently but steadfastly. Shirley was a devoted wife to the late Billy Joe Shelton, and together they shared many happy years. She was also a loving mother to her children: Frankie Wayne Bradley (deceased), Theresa Alma Buck, Pamela Regina Stone-Hill, Theodore Lloyd Raios, and Norman Kurtis Raios (deceased). Her legacy of love and kindness extends through her family, as she was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren and the proud great-grandmother of seven. Shirley had a large, close-knit family. She is survived by her siblings: Midge Amoros, L.C. Beaver, Carolyn Thomas, Bonnie Mitchem, and Margaret Dudek. She is predeceased by her siblings Darrell Beaver, J.W. Beavers, Frankie Beavers, and Patricia Walker. Known for her wit and humor, Shirley had a saying that her family will fondly remember: “If it was me…” It was a phrase that captured her warm, thoughtful nature and often brought laughter to those around her. Shirley’s life will be celebrated with a service honoring her memory, where family and friends will gather to remember her love, strength, and the many beautiful moments she brought into their lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held Thurdsday, October 10th from 2 PM until 9 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth. A Eulogy will be held Friday, October 11th at 1 PM, at Parkview Memorial Cemetery, 34205 Five Mile Road, Livonia Michigan, 48154.
