Shirlee Deane Jackman Jacobson

Jacobson, Shirlee Deane Jackman passed peacefully from this life on January 29, 2016. She was born in Murray, Utah to Odie Ray Jackman and Clem Turner Jackman Williams, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Jackman, and a sister Cherie Kennedy, and is survived by a sister, Michael Morrill. She was also preceded in death by daughter Rosalyn, who died shortly after birth. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Don Jacobson, and five children, Julee (Allen) Chamberlain, Jeff (Anne) Jacobson, Sherry Hammonds, Loree (Eric) Thorderson, and Lisa (Andy) Salo. She was especially blessed with twelve grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. After graduating from Murray High School, Shirlee played percussion in the band at University of Utah where she received a B.A. in elementary education. Prior to having her children and after they were grown, she taught elementary education for fifteen years. She loved the children she taught and used many innovative methods involving music to help her students learn. She went back to college at age 56 and received her Masters degree. After retiring from teaching she authored 3 books and composed numerous songs. She loved to sing, had a beautiful voice and taught voice lessons for many years. She also taught tap dancing for a few years and always enjoyed dancing. She loved her garden and shared roses and other flowers with many neighbors and friends. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many capacities, especially loving those that involved music. She loved being with her grandchildren, and was their most enthusiastic cheerleader in whatever they were involved in. We will all miss her, but rejoice in the reunion she is having with so many loved ones.A funeral will be held 11 AM Tuesday February 2 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7575 North Hix Road,Westland, with visitation at the church from 10:30 until time of service. Visitation with the family will be held 7-9 PM Monday February 1 at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 W Ann Arbor Road (btwn Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth.Burial in Midvale, Utah.
