Mahrle, Sarah Blanche (nee Caldwell), age 93 of Canton, August 28, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Clarence Robert for 60 years. Predeceased by an infant son, Robert Paul. Survived by children Mary (Michael) McGrath of Plymouth, Larry (Kathy) Mahrle of Huntersville, NC. Also survived by grandchildren Samuel (Erin) McGrath of Granger, IN, Paul (Jessica) McGrath of Plymouth, Matthew (Sheena) Mahrle of Hamilton, OH, and Sarah (Jeremy) Dye of Mount Holly, NC. Also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and a sister, Pearl Stearns, of Carterville, IL.Visitation will be Thursday, August 31, 4-8 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 W. Ann Arbor Rd., (Between Sheldon & Beck) Plymouth. In State Friday 10 AM until the Friday 11 AM Funeral Service at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 14175 Farmington Road, Livonia, MI 48154. She grew up in Southern Illinois in the country near the small town of Ozark. She was the youngest of 3 sisters, Mary Elizabeth, Pearl and Sarah Blanche. She graduated from Vienna High School and moved to Detroit to attend the Detroit Business Institute where she learned typing skills and shorthand. Shortly thereafter she, along with her sister and mother, went to work at the Willow Run Bomber Plant in Ypsilanti, MI. She had a job with the secretarial staff and enjoyed being part of the war effort. It was while she was working at the Bomber plant that she met her husband, Clarence Robert Mahrle. They enjoyed 60 years together. Both worked for Ford Motor Company. After retirement, they enjoyed their winters in Clearwater, FL and summers in Michigan. Sarah enjoyed cooking, baking pies, sewing, crafting, crossword and jumble puzzles and golf. Most of all Sarah enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her latter years, she had numerous speaking engagements where she shared her experiences as a “Rosie”. A special memory for her was an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. where 31 Rosies were honored. Sarah was a devout Christian who worshiped at First Lutheran Church, Clearwater, FL, Cedar Crest Lutheran Church, White Lake, and Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, Livonia. Her smile and “gift of gab” will be missed by all who knew her.
