Robert Arnold Schuessler July 14, 1938 – January 11, 2025 Robert Arnold Schuessler, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home on January 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 14, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, Robert was the beloved son of Arnold and Clara Schuessler. A proud graduate of Wayne State University, Robert earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and dedicated his career to innovation and excellence. He worked for Ford Motor Company in the Radio Division, where his brilliant mind and tireless dedication led to the accomplishment of several patents—contributions that continue to shape the automotive and technology industries. On April 23, 1966, Robert married the love of his life, Barbara Wallhausen, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Detroit. Their enduring love and partnership became the foundation of a beautiful life together, spanning nearly six decades. Robert was a man of faith with many passions, but sailing held a special place in his heart. He found immense joy and peace navigating the open waters, while sharing his love for the sport with family and friends. Above all, Robert treasured his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara, and his two sons, Robert (wife Aleta) and Kevin (wife Kim). His family will carry forward his legacy of kindness, determination, and curiosity. He was a proud and loving grandfather to his five grandchildren: Nicholas, Katherine, Christopher, Anthony, and Vincent. Robert’s life was defined by his intellect, humility, and unwavering commitment to those he loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his contributions to both his family and his profession will never be forgotten. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bob's life during visitation on Thursday, January 16, from 4:00 to 7:30 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West, Plymouth, Michigan. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 17, at Risen Christ Lutheran Church, 46250 Ann Arbor Road West, Plymouth, Michigan, 48170. Bob will lie in state at 11:00 AM, with the service beginning at 12:00 PM. Pastor Rennie Kaufman will preside over the ceremony. Bob’s final resting place is in heaven with his burial at Michigan Memorial Park.
