Patricia Diane Battista June 24, 1942 – June 3, 2025 Patricia Battista (Patsy), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully in her home on June 3, 2025. Born in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Helen and Harold Tjernlund, Patricia lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering love for family, friends, and learning. Patsy was the devoted wife of John Battista, married for 64 years they shared a lifetime of love and memories. She was a nurturing mother to John Battista Jr. (Lynda) and Kristen Headrick (Eric), and a proud grandmother to John Battista III (Nicole), Nicholas Battista (Amani), Jill Kung (Theodore), and Eric Headrick (Quinlin). Her great children Vincent, Sabrina, Katarina, Nicholas Jr., Nolan, Vaughan, Rex, and soon to be born Baby Headrick brought her immense joy. Patsy leaves behind her sisters, Jacqueline Walker (Richard) and Karen Cale, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends, especially Sandra Abraham. Her love for animals was evident in the care she showed her furry companions throughout her life. Patsy’s love for learning was lifelong, and she never stopped seeking knowledge. A registered nurse by training, Patsy later pursued her passion for education, earning a teaching certificate and inspiring middle and high school students as a science and health teacher. Through the years, Patsy treasured notes and Christmas cards sent by prior students. Visitation will be held on Sunday June 8th from 3 PM to 8 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth. A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held on Monday, June 9th in Plymouth, Michigan at Our Lady of Good Council Church. She will be in state starting at 9:30am with funeral mass beginning at 10:00am. Following family and friends are welcome to attend a luncheon at the Italian American Club located in Livonia, Michigan.
