Mary Isabelle (Vitale) Schultz November 6, 1937 – August 15, 2025 With broken hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Isabelle (Vitale) Schultz, of Plymouth, Michigan. Isabelle leaves behind her devoted husband of 70 years, Carl L. Schultz, and their four sons: Nicolo (Katherine), Carl (Kathi), Christopher, and James (Wendy). She was the cherished grandmother of Elizabeth (Joe) Taylor, Jacqueline (Steve) Bammert, Julianne (Jerry) Williams, Natalie (Jared) Bonnici, and Carl, Nicolo, Isabelle, Carly, and Jenna Schultz. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren whom she adored, as well as her brother Joseph Vitale and sister Marie (Robert) Hofmann. Born November 6, 1937, in Detroit to Nicolo and Antoinette (Zerilli) Vitale, Isabelle’s life was defined by deep devotion to family. She graduated from Lincoln Park High School, where she met and began dating Carl, her lifelong partner. Starting with only love and $100 to their name, they built a full and joyful life. From the very beginning, Isabelle and Carl were an inseparable team. After Carl joined the Air Force, they began their life together at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, in Dayton, Ohio. They later moved back to Michigan and raised their four boys while building a successful business, Sealant Equipment and Engineering, Inc. Before devoting herself entirely to raising her family, Isabelle worked in many roles: as a floor walker at the five-and-dime, a secretary for Bell Telephone, a cosmetics saleswoman, a private secretary with the U.S. Air Force’s Air Research and Development Command (with secret clearance), and a Plymouth Community probation officer. Ultimately, Isabelle chose to focus on the most demanding and rewarding role of all: that of devoted wife and loving mother. She was a wonderful cook, especially when it came to Italian favorites. Her lasagna, meatballs, focaccia, brusaluna, and Christmas cookies will be remembered — and attempted — by generations to come. Isabelle was strong-willed when she needed to be, but also had a deep love for laughter, friendship, and fun. She cherished her girls’ nights, enjoyed her card clubs, and loved to dance, bowl, golf, and travel. She found joy in sailing and flying with Carl, traveling across the country but often to Charlevoix, the place they loved most. Isabelle had a kind, compassionate, and generous heart, and often privately helped others in need. Most importantly, she was the irreplaceable matriarch of our family. Those who were loved and cared for by Isabelle were truly blessed. And oh, how deeply she will be missed. In lieu of flowers, take the trip. Look out for each other. And call your mom. Friends may visit at the Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, in Plymouth, Michigan on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 1-8 pm. She will lie in state from 10:30 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, in Canton, Michigan, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
