Andonian, Margaret “Peggy”, March 5, 2014 age 78 of Summerfield, FL. Loving mother of Sean(Dawn) and Brian (Kim). Proud grandmother of Kevin, Kelly, Ava and Jackie. Dear sister of John (Pam) Scanlon, Mary Ann Thompson and the late Ruth Ann. Bio: Peggy Andonian 11/1/1935 �" 3/5/2014 By Brian Andonian Mom and dad bought a house in Dearborn Heights shortly after Sean was born in 1964. Peggy and George divorced in approximately 1971. In 1973 mom earned a BBA from Wayne State University; something she was always very proud of. Mom raised us in Dearborn Heights until 1986. During that time, Peggy worked at Kraft Foods and AT&T as a highly successful sales agent. She would often turn down promotions fearing that it would interfere with her golf schedule. Mom was fed up with long Michigan winters and moved to Hilton Head Island in 1986 after Brian graduated from high school where she worked part time selling yellow page ads and worked full time on her golf game. In 1996, she decided to make a move to Surprise Arizona where she had a home built in a golf community. It was in Arizona where she took up stained glass artwork and began selling her pieces at craft shows. Many of her lamps sold for hundreds of dollars. She also taught stained glass classes out of her garage. An avid traveler, mom would go on 2 or 3 major trips per year to places like Europe, The Caribbean, Central America, Mexico and the East coast. She would plan the trips on her own after meticulous research. Often she would travel with a friend, or alone. But she would always meet someone and team up with them. In 2003, she made another move to Florida after visiting a friend there and discovering a Golf and Country club near the Villages Community. At this time, she was playing tennis and golf up to 5 days a week, was the head of the tennis club at her community and was involved in the duplicate bridge club. She was also a skilled chess player. Peggy was extremely strong-willed and did things on her own terms. Rarely, if ever, was she taken advantage of. It would take a very convincing and compelling discussion to persuade her. Growing up, these qualities made a big impact on Sean and I. Even though it was clear that I was going to pursue a career in science, mom always stressed the importance of the arts. She persuaded me to take piano lessons and later, drum lessons. For Sean, it was guitar lessons. Mom bought me a 35mm camera when I was in 8th grade and encouraged me to be creative with it. This spurred my life-long interest in photography. Mom greatly enjoyed fine arts, music of all types, dancing, literature, and movies. Even when her dementia had advanced, she could always name the artist when she heard a song on the radio (Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, and Tony Bennett are some of her favorites). Mom was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in 2010, and Sean and I moved her to Michigan in 2011 so she could be closer to family. She was a favorite at the Oakmont Residence in Livonia. The staff there loved her. We are fortunate that the entire family was able to spend some quality time with her during these past 2 ½ years. She was a big part of our lives and she will be dearly missed. We love you mom �" your sons, Sean and Brian
