Judith A. Mendelsohn

Judith Anne Mendelsohn, 75, of Caseville, formerly of Southfield, died�Tuesday, December 4,�while under hospice care at the Bloomfield Hills home of her son James.� Judy, as she was known to family and friends, twice fought courageously against cancer. She was born on Sept. 6, 1932 in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Joseph and Mary Ann (Kubot) Moore.� Judy married the father of her three sons Peter Cristiano, Sr., on June 19, 1954 at Corpus Christi Church, Dayton, Ohio.� She married Sam Mendelsohn Aug. 2, 1981 in West Bloomfield.� He died March 23, 1986. Judy, a nurse, worked, throughout her medical career, for several physicians in the metropolitan Detroit area.� She retired from the Detroit Medical Center in 1995.� After summering with her family in Caseville for many years, following her retirement, Judy and son Christopher Cristiano, became permanent residents of the community.� She then became owner of Port Elizabeth Marina and Yacht Club, Caseville. Always wanting to contribute to the betterment of Caseville, Judy served as a member of the Caseville Village Council.� She was an active supporter of village events and promotional efforts. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 3690, Caseville.�Judy was a devout member of St. Roch Catholic Church and lovingly devoted countless hours serving her parish through the Knights of Columbus Council #8042 Ladies Auxiliary, Pigeon, and her work as St. Roch's Christian Service Director.� Her faith sustained her throughout her life. She also served her community as a member of the Scheurer Hospital Auxiliary, Pigeon, and was appreciative of the care received by its medical staff. She loved so many and gave of herself and personal resources so freely.� There are many who will never know that they have benefited from her generosity; that was her way.� Everyone who knew and loved her will feel this loss, but are thankful she is now at peace and in the arms of the God she loved. She is with Him now and surely will be asking Him to help those she has left behind. Judy is survived by her sons Peter Jr. (Joan) Cristiano, South Lyon, Christopher Cristiano, Caseville, and James (Kevin) Cristbrook, Bloomfield Hills and grandchildren Lindsey and Tony Cristiano and Aidan Cristbrook. Under her direction, the following arrangements have been made:� At the Desmond, A.J. & Sons Funeral Home, 32515 Woodward Avenue, Royal Oak, visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, 1-3 p.m., followed by a Catholic Service at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Beaumont Hospice, 1200 Stephenson Highway, Troy, MI� 48083. Cremation has taken place. Additionally, per Judy's request, on Saturday, May 24, 2008, 10 a.m., a Memorial Mass will be co-celebrated for her at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville by it's pastor the Rev. Kenneth Yaroch and Rev.
