John H. Calhoun

Calhoun, John H. March 3, 2016, age 73 of Northville. Beloved husband of Patricia. Preceeded in death by his first wife Jane Calhoun in 2002. Loving father of John H. Jr (Susan), the late James, and Jeffery P. (Julie) Kausch, and Michael D. Kausch. Proud grandfather of Joshua, Samuel, David, Adam, Eric, Kevin, and Jeffery. Dear brother of Gary A., and Bruce (Diana.) John was a man of integrity, strong faith and he lived his life to serve God and to glorify Him. His daily desire was to love the Lord and love his neighbor. He was born and grew up in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. He is the oldest of three sons. His father was a magician as a young man and later a foreman for the Kelsey-Hayes foundry. He often referred to his mother as “Saint Jean” who a significant influence on him and his brothers. He met his first wife, Jane McConnell, in junior high youth group and they were married for 37 years and had one son, John Calhoun Jr. John Jr. and his wife, Sue, have 3 sons – Josh, Sam, & David. His working career started as a clerk at Kelsey-Hayes Credit Union and ended as a profitability manager at TRW in 2002 after a 37 year career. After the passing of his first wife Jane, he met and married Patricia in 2003. John embraced and loved Patricia’s two sons Jeff & Mike and Jeff’s wife, Julie and their 4 sons, Adam, Eric, Kevin, and Jeffery. In the last several years John & Patricia served on several missionary trips and are year-round volunteers for Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child. John had a significant impact on his family, friends, neighbors, and ‘new’ friends he met daily. Visitation Saturday 3-7 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 W Ann Arbor Rd (btwn Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth. In state Sunday 2 PM until the Sunday 3 PM funeral service at Ward Presbyterian Church, 40000 6 Mile Road (at Haggerty) Northville.
