Gerald "Jerry" J. Blaskie

Blaskie, Jerry, March 13, 2024 age 62 of South Lyon. Beloved husband of Susan. Loving father of Corey (Lauren) Blaskie and Christopher Blaskie. Loving brother of Tracy (Diane) Blaskie and Tina (Scott) Croskey. Proud grandpa of Nora. Dear stepson of Sally Blaskie. Jerry was born on October 24, 1961, in Westland, MI, to Joanne and Gerald Blaskie Sr. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1983 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Jerry dedicated 32 remarkable years to Ford Motor Company, retiring in 2017, leaving a legacy of commitment to great engineering. Jerry was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Susan. They were side-by-side for 44 wonderful years, celebrating 39 years of marriage, two wonderful children, and a beautiful granddaughter together. Jerry enjoyed creating yard décor for Susan, always tinkering on a new piece for their collection. Jerry was a true outdoorsman with a deep appreciation for nature. He cherished the time spent up north in Kalkaska at his beloved cabin with the whole family. Jerry thoroughly enjoyed spending time cruising the lake in the pontoon boat, spending hours out on the water every day. Jerry found joy in being a tinkerer, always finding a new house project to work on. He was known as the “go-to” guy who could fix anything. Family and friends knew they could come to “The Man” for help whenever they needed it. Jerry’s analytical nature carried over into his passion for working on older cars. His 1995 Explorer and 1998 Escort were two of his longest, perpetual projects which he loved dearly. Jerry also had an appreciation for local sports. He supported any and all teams from the state of Michigan, especially in collegiate sports. Jerry enjoyed watching the Lions and Red Wings in between episodes of various car and hobby shows. Jerry’s absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The lessons he taught us and the love he shared will endure forever. He will be remembered not just for what he did, but for who he was—a loving, dedicated, and selfless man who made the world a better place simply by being in it. His spirit will continue to live on in the memories he has left behind and the profound impact he has had on those he touched. Memorial Visitation Friday April 5th, 3PM until the 4 PM Memorial Service at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Sheldon and Beck), Plymouth.
