Evelyne J. Gatt

Evelyne J. Gatt, a devoted Catholic and beloved aunt, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, at the age of 95. Evelyne was a long-time resident of Westland, where she built a life centered on faith, family, and service. Evelyne dedicated her career as a budget analyst at Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, where her meticulous work and commitment left a lasting impression. Her attention to detail and quiet determination were hallmarks of her life, both professionally and personally. She was a cherished aunt to many, and her love and care enriched the lives of her nieces and nephews: Barbara (Tom Fries) Archer-Fries, John (Cheryl) Gatt, Mike (Kathy) Gatt, Bob Gatt, Mary (Marc) Lorrain, Julie (Tim) Mack, Dan (Lisa) Pace, and Janice (the late Jim) Quinn. Evelyne was preceded in death by her siblings, Jane (Joseph) Pace, Joe (Ann) Gatt, and Mike (Marie) Gatt, as well as her loving parents, John and Mary (née Ellul) Gatt. Evelyne found joy in life’s simple pleasures—reading, shopping at J.L. Hudson’s, and expressing her creativity through knitting and crocheting. Her deep faith was a cornerstone of her life, reflected in the hymns she chose for her funeral, including “Jesus, There Is Something About That Name” and “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace.” Visitation Monday, June 2nd from 3 PM – 8 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (Between Sheldon and Beck), Plymouth. Rosary 6:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at St. Thomas a’ Beckett Church, 555 South Lilley Road, Canton. Evelyne will lie in state at 10:00 AM, with Mass beginning at 10:30 AM. Father Chris Maus will preside. Interment will take place at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
