While it is with saddened hearts that we share of the passing of our mom, Betty Sue Bookout, we are grateful and privileged for her life and influence. Born, November 25, 1932, in Obion County, Tennessee to Allie Evans Hayes and Vannie Sue (Hutchison) Hayes. Betty was the second of two children, joining her older brother, Waymon Edward Hayes, whom she adored. Betty spent her childhood in northwestern Tennessee until her family moved to Plymouth, Michigan in the early 1950’s. She was married to Harry Lynn Bookout on July 14, 1956, and they eventually had two daughters, Stacey and Sabrina. Our mom was an amazing person who will be greatly missed. We could not begin to adequately capture in words what her dedication, guidance and compassion have produced in our lives. She was the example of unconditional love for her children. Her life bears the fruit of so many friends and family, whom she cherished. She was generous with her time and resources, putting others needs before her own. Mom was loved by so many – she was truly one of those individuals who never met a stranger. She was always more interested and comfortable hearing about others, rather than allowing the conversation to focus on her. She quickly developed a strong love for so many of those who cared for her during her last months – and they certainly loved her back. She fiercely loved her family and was especially proud of her three grandsons, Blair, Connor and Chase – and was so delighted to have the opportunity to meet and hold her new great granddaughter, Charlie Rae, earlier this spring. What pure joy to see those two connect for the very first time. While our lives will greatly miss her comforting presence, infectious laugh and amazing smile – we are confident in the promise of seeing her again. She was assured of her destination when this life’s journey came to an end, as she entrusted her life to Jesus Christ. Mom…Love you more!
