Arlene N. Bailey

Arlene N. Bailey of Belleville, Michigan passed on to heaven on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born to Rev. Lloyd and Lillian Wilson on February 6, 1922 in Caro, Michigan. She received Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord at age 5 years old and faithfully walked by faith in Him the rest of her life. She married Earl A. Bailey on June 29, 1942 at Ola Holiness Camp near Ithaca, Michigan at the close of a campmeeting service. She and her first born daughter lived with her parents at North Star, Michigan during W.W.II while her husband served in the army. One of her special memories was taking a trip by train to California to see her husband in the service. Earl and Arlene were blessed with five children. Lillian (David) Crane, Elaine (Rev.Jack) Steenbergh, Lavonne Kay (Dan) Moss, Rev. Leonard (Penny) Bailey, and Dale Bailey. She greatly loved her children and desired for each of them to live by faith in Christ. Arlene was a faithful person of prayer and loved to help people and share with them her faith. She was a faithful member of The Plymouth Church of The Nazarene and enjoyed the ministry and messages of their pastors over the years. She worked at J.C. Penny Store, Singer Sewing Center, Rawleigh Products salesperson, and Mellencamps’ Men Store. Her greatest work was to be a homemaker and to care for her family. Arlene was an excellent seamstress, loved to bake for her friends, sent encouragement cards and in her early years loved to visit people for the church. She had 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren who loved her. She is survived by her children, 13 grandchildren, her great grandchildren and one brother, Rev. Stanley Wilson. Her husband, one grandchild Gerald Crane, and two brothers: Leonard Wilson and Jay Wilson have pre-deceased her. Visitation Thursday 5-8 PM at Vermeulen Funeral Home, 46401 W. Ann Arbor Road, Plymouth (Between Sheldon and Beck). Services will be held at Plymouth Church of The Nazarene on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. and the interment service will be held at the North Star Cemetery on October 13, 2012. Donations in her memory may be given to The Lake Louise Church of The Nazarene, 2300 Ortonville Road, Ortonville, Michigan 48462 where her grandson Matthew Bailey serves as senior pastor.
