Jerry A. Hotchkin

With a sad and heavy heart, we announce the passing of Jerry Arnold Hotchkin on July 11, 2021 after his long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Jerry was born on June 15th, 1939 and lived in Plymouth, Michigan, all his life. His parents were George and Harriet Hotchkin, with siblings Gene Hotchkin and Janet Blaesing. He married his high school sweetheart, Lois (1940-2017) in 1959. Their children are Jerry Hotchkin and Elaine Hotchkin, with grandchildren Kaitlyn Hotchkin and Megan Hotchkin. Jerry started working at Burroughs in Plymouth, and in 1965 was hired as a Cost Estimator by Ford Motor Company. He retired after 30 years and worked an additional decade as a consultant with Arvin-Meritor, an automotive supplier. Jerry’s career in the automotive industry was always more than a job. He was always interested in cars, especially the classics from the 1950’s and 1960’s. He loved playing and watching golf, and was overjoyed to see his own children and grandchildren take an interest as well. He enjoyed taking time to watch the local sports teams, especially Tiger’s baseball, Piston’s Basketball and Lion’s Football. As a young married man, he owned a boat and was an accomplished water skier. For a brief period later in life, he even rode motorcycles. Jerry was dedicated and supportive of his children and granddaughters. To Jerry and Elaine, he was active as a baseball and basketball coach, as well as founder and active participant of the Plymouth Music Boosters. In addition, he provided many family road trips to the beaches of Florida for family vacation. Jerry and Lois traveled across the country for numerous summers together, and were the most dedicated fans at their granddaughters’ softball games. Jerry loved his family, and was always there as a loving husband, caring father, and proud grandfather. There will be a private family committal service arranged by the Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, Plymouth at Glen Eden Memorial Park.
